In this tutorial, we'll make a simple maple tree. The tree is shown here before texturing.
(We'll apply texture maps in the second part of this tutorial.)

To make a tree, simply drag and drop the Tree Druid icon
into your scene, at the location where you would like the base of the tree to be.
You'll be taken automatically to the Model room, where you can select what kind of tree to plant.
In the preview window, you'll see the default tree.

Change the Species popup to "Maple, Sugar" to change the tree to a Sugar Maple.

Finally, return to the Assemble room, if you want to plant more trees. Note that trees
do not have leaves, by default. This is to keep the number of facets in the tree model
down to a reasonable size, while you are assembling your scene.

To add leaves to the tree, return to the Model room, and change the season to
Summer.

Leaves grow on the tree throughout the Spring, but they are fully
grown by summertime. Beginning in early fall, the now-full-grown leaves will
fall to the ground. If you want to rake the leaves automatically, select the
"Remove fallen leaves" checkbox.
 | Leaves fall to the ground throughout the Fall, but you can't actually see them fall.
To show this in your scene, you'll need to create the leaves and make them fall manually. |
